ABOUT

Welcome to the Art School

In 2019, I created this website to be my online connection to all of my students, peers, and friends around the globe. This platform allows me to  offer online courses on pastels and painting techniques to many people I normally couldn’t reach. In addition to the individual courses, the school also has a Membership called IGNITE! where I post all kinds of additional content  from detailed lessons on all aspects of art to fun interactive-get-your-questions-answered zoom parties.

Enjoy looking around the site and please contact us using the envelope in the top right corner of the site.

Many thanks!

Gail

IGNITE! Membership

passion. learning. growth. community.

Its an art-making membership. A community of like minded people.

Since 2019 Gail has enjoyed being a part of the online community of artists reaching out to students and colleagues around the globe. Her online tribe of pastel artists and IGNITErs are a vibrant range of people, all in the pursuit of one thing, knowledge and community.

About Gail

Gail was born to artistic parents, and brought up in Kingston, Jamaica. These years in the Caribbean undoubtedly has influenced her palette (and personality) while the encouragement and support of her parents influenced the direction Gail was to take towards the arts.

In 2002, Gail was awarded Signature Membership in the Pastel Society of America (PSA) and in 2018 she received her Master designation with Pastel Artists Canada (MPAC). She received her IAPS/MC designation in 2023.

Gail’s subjects include figures, still life, and plein-air scenes of urban and rural life, created locally or while travelling internationally. Viewers and collectors marvel at the vibrant colours and light in Gail’s work which breath special life into perceptions of every day scenes.

Gail has participated in national and international shows and her work is in private and corporate collections in several countries. In addition to being a full-time artist, Gail delivers well-received workshops in drawing and pastels. Her work can be seen at Peninsula Gallery (Sidney, BC, Canada) and Kennedy Gallery (Grand Cayman) and soon online through gsas.com/shop

Gail's Blogs

Gail’s love of pastel and the enjoyment she receives from teaching about pastel inspired the creation of this website. A blogger at heart, Gail started the GailSibley.com Blog in 2012 with the greater world of art in mind.
